Podunk Volunteer Crew Descriptions
Festival Headquarters – Julia James
Assist at headquarters booth at greeting guests as they arrive on site. Provide Festival guests and campers with information and assistance where needed. Answer phone. Act as a central contact point for any needed resources.
Hospitality – Sherrie Watkowicz
Provide food and beverage to performers and guests in the hospitality area. Maintain a clean dining area. Staff the door to check credentials of those coming and going.
Kids’ Activities – Sandra Theoharatos
Assist in setting up and supervising activities for children during the day. Assist in the clean up after activities.
Kitchen – Joanna Begin
Assist with the prep, cooking, and clean-up of the hospitality kitchen.
Main Stage – Kim Tierney, Amy Orlomoski
Assist the Main Stage Captain in maintaining a welcoming and safe environment in the backstage area.
Trading Post – Deb Fleischer
The ability to use apps on a tablet or phone is required. Our fast-paced crew runs the festival’s go-to spot for merchandise, ice, raffles, and more. We help guests select t-shirts, stock up on ice, and enter raffles. Must be enthusiastic, helpful, and ready to share in the spirit of bluegrass. You’ll be at the heart of the action, making sure everyone has what they need to enjoy an unforgettable festival experience.
Maintenance – Bob Francks
Assist in the removal of trash and help with the maintenance of restrooms and showers.
Setup Crew – Rich James
This crew is for the setup of the festival grounds. Set up starts on Monday and should take through Wednesday. You are welcome to arrive any time after sun-up on Monday. Should be able to handle physical work. Some carpentry background would be helpful but not mandatory. You will be scheduled to work Monday through Wednesday and then have the rest of the festival off. Before being placed on this crew you will be contacted by phone by the Volunteer Coordinator to be sure you are a fit for this crew. Although not mandatory, it would be helpful if you could assist with teardown on Sunday.
Breakdown Crew – Rich James
This crew will be responsible for assisting in the breakdown of the festival. Including…… disassembling of stages, taking down signage, loading all festival material into trailers, etc…..
If you sign up for this crew you should be ready to start Sunday mid-morning to put a full day in on Sunday and finish on Monday. If accepted onto this crew, you must check in with the Volunteer Coordinator when you arrive on the grounds and will then be free to enjoy the festival until we start work on Sunday. You will be receiving a phone call from the Volunteer Coordinator to discuss the job duties required and the time you will be needed to be sure you are a fit for this crew. You must be able to show that you are reliable!!!!
Litchfield Stage – Jeff Horton
Assist in maintaining the schedule of performances of acts, arranging onstage setup, monitoring p.a. system. Must be personable, organized, and possess at least minimal knowledge of sound equipment.
Housatonic Stage – Dave Carney
Assist in maintaining the schedule of performances of acts, arranging onstage setup, and monitoring p.a. system. Must be personable, organized, and possess at least minimal knowledge of sound equipment.
Day Tickets & Parking – Rich Whitman
Be the welcoming face of the Podunk Bluegrass Festival! Some positions will require the ability to use apps on a tablet or phone. This team is essential in creating a smooth and friendly experience for all festival-goers. You’ll assist guests with purchasing day tickets, checking passes, providing wristbands, helping them find convenient parking, answering questions, and giving directions.
Main Gate – Rich Whitman
Be the first point of contact for festival-goers. Some positions will require the ability to use apps on a tablet or phone. This crew welcomes guests, vendors, and artists, checks tickets, scans passes, and provides wristbands to ensure a smooth entry experience. You’ll answer questions about festival events, direct guests to key areas, and keep the line moving. Must be personable and eager to create a welcoming atmosphere.
Photography – Shanna Conner
The photography Crew consists of a fun group of individuals who have a good eye for finding great images to capture. The crew is responsible for working as a team to photograph the entire festival. Of course, photographers must display the utmost respect to our artists and attendees, and as a representative of Podunk, should always assist in providing a welcoming environment. Members accepted for Photo Crew use their own camera/equipment and will be expected to upload their images to an online platform by October 1st.
